It’s my belief that there are systems of thought wider than psychiatry, from which psychiatry has been derived. In the interests of transparency, you can see that my approach to treatment is eclectic. There will always be a foundation in general, mainstream psychotherapy though. Prospective patients shouldn’t think I have a “special” method of therapy because I “come from the visual arts and philosophy”. I may have my OWN approach but it is a product of what I have read and what I have been taught. I believe a therapist should care, be a professionally-honed listener and have a good insight into problems and their best solutions. I also believe it helps to be generally aware of the currents of thought dominating our social mind. There is an element of sociological awareness in good psychotherapy.
Valuable podcasts include the Huberman Lab podcast (covers many topics related to health generally) and the Lex Fridman podcast. There are many explicitly psychological podcasts as well.
